This course is designed to teach diversified skills needed to maintain commercial and residential properties. Students are taught basic skills in general cleaning techniques for floor care, various room cleaning methods, cleaning chemicals, and proper use of hand and power tools, OSHA regulations and proper safety precautions in the performance of building maintenance tasks, polishing furniture, recycling procedures. Reading Labels, Safety, Precaution and Accident and Incident Reporting; Emergency Protocol;
Basic cleaning for above-floor surfaces; Basic Cleaning of Hard Floor Surfaces; Cleaning restrooms;
Storage of Equipment; Chemicals; Polishing and waxing furniture;
Students are also introduced to building maintenance job skills and employment opportunities. Students are instructed in Emphasis is placed on safety, clothing, and proper use of hand and power tools. Students review mathematical procedures including computations using fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Students will learn the skills employers require for positive work relationships and long-term employment. They include targeted workplace competencies: problem solving and other cognitive skills, oral communication skills, personal qualities, work ethic, and customer service, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Students also learn about the importance of professionalism on the jobsite and employer expectations.
Course Length: 240 Hours
Students must have the ability to learn the basic methods of cleaning and be able to physically perform prescribed task as described in course description. Instructor will be able to assist further any student who may have disabilities.
